Surprise Mayor Sharon Wolcott wants voters to oust two city council members who have disagreed with her on key issues and is backing their opponents in the August primary election.
Wolcott endorsed two first-time candidates, Ken Remley and Jim Hayden, saying the men have the necessary skills and experiences to move Surprise forward, and has held a private fundraiser for them at her home.
But incumbents Rachel Villanueva and Jim Biundo said they believe Wolcott found something else in their opponents: uncritical support — something they haven’t always given her.
