Arizona ranks in the bottom 10 among states when it comes to being successful, according to a look at several economic factors in a new study.

GoBankingRates.com developed the criteria that examined such factors as income inequality, poverty rates and the number of millionaires in a state to create the rankings.

Arizona and Phoenix ranked low on a new look at whether U.S. states are successful.

Arizona landed at No. 42 on the list, grouped among other Southern and Western states that seem to habitually rank in the same area on economic measures. While the state has more than 100,000 millionaires, one-third of the population is deemed lower class.

The top states in GoBanking’s rankings all were in the mid-Atlantic or Northeast region’s of the country.
