Thomas Broderick has served little more than a year in the job

His position plays an important role making recommendations on utility rate cases

The director of utilities for the Arizona Corporation Commission has resigned amid several high-profile rate cases, leaving the regulatory agency without a critical staff member while issues such as the Arizona Public Service Co. rate case are pending.
