Ducey, following a public outcry and media attention, reinstates fired Adobe Mountain School teacher Tarah Ausburn, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will get full pay and benefits.
Adobe Mountain School teacher Tarah Ausburn received an unexpected call Friday afternoon while recovering from a third surgery to treat radiation wounds caused by breast cancer treatment.
The caller was Henry Darwin, Gov. Doug Ducey’s chief of operations. The governor, Darwin said, had ordered Ausburn’s reinstatement just four days after she was fired by the Department of Juvenile Corrections for exhausting her unpaid medical leave and being too sick to return to work.
