FLAGSTAFF – U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick gave the following statement today about her next steps in response to insurance giant Aetna’s announcement that it will no longer participate in Arizona’s health insurance marketplace:

“In light of Aetna’s disappointing decision this week, I am continuing my efforts to push our elected officials and agencies at both the federal and state levels to find solutions. And today, I wrote to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona to request that they continue offering their health insurance plans in Pinal County in 2017. In the letter, I noted that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona is a leading provider in our state and has played a key role in bringing down the uninsured rate in Arizona. I wrote that the company is in a position to ‘take action and participate in a solution that would help thousands of Arizonans.’

“We must work together at every level to find solutions and ensure that Pinal County residents have health insurance options on the federal exchange for 2017. All Arizonans deserve access to quality, affordable healthcare.”
