Mesa: Meet your city council candidates

Mesa City Council candidates weigh in on everything from sales-tax hikes and economic development to transportation and education.

Mesa voters on Aug. 30 will decide the fates of three City Council seats set to change occupants in January.

District 1 Councilman Dave Richins, District 2 Councilman Alex Finter and District 3 Vice Mayor Dennis Kavanaugh are term-limited, with two to three candidates vying to replace them in each district.

Mayor John Giles also is up for re-election Aug. 30 but faces no challengers.
