Peoria to vote on changes to city charter

Among Mayor Cathy Carlat’s goals for 2016: acquiring the western portion of Sunrise Mountain, reviewing recommendations from the Quality of Life and Charter Review committees, bringing in new businesses from Canada

Peoria’s City Charter has been overhauled and officials are asking residents to approve the update in the Aug. 30 primary election.

Tammy Shreeve, strategic management officer with the city, who oversaw the overhaul, said the new charter is an important document that outlines how the city is governed.
