Surprise council votes 4-3 to reprimand mayor for policies violation

By a 4-3 vote Tuesday night, the Surprise City Council approved a reprimand of Mayor Sharon Wolcott for a violation of the city’s Policies and Procedures Manual.

Vice Mayor Jim Biundo filed the ethics complaint Aug. 8 based on her campaigning and fundraising for candidates for Surprise City Council under the auspices of the official title of “Mayor.”

Biundo and council members Skip Hall, Rachel Villanueva and Roland Winters voted in favor of the reprimand Mayor Wolcott and council members Todd Tande and John Williams voted against.
