Both candidates running for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District spoke of wanting to talk about the issues during a debate in Casa Grande on Friday, though they often resorted to making personal attacks against each other.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, the Republican candidate, began his opening statement jabbing his Democratic opponent, former state Sen. Tom O’Halleran, for his absence at another political forum last Saturday in Maricopa.

O’Halleran was attending a meeting with the Western Navajo Nation during the Maricopa debate, according to his campaign manager.
