City responds to Huntington University lawsuit

Peoria responded to a law suit claiming the city is giving away more than $2.5 million in taxpayer money to Huntington University and its landlord in the form of subsidies.

The suit claims the city promised Huntington $1.9 million as an incentive for the university to locate in Peoria, and promised the landlord, Arrowhead Equities, LLC, of Mesa $740,000 for building renovations.

The university and landlord are private businesses.
