Take a stroll around downtown Chandler on a Friday or Saturday night and you may get the sense things are different.
New restaurants and bars have filled once vacant spaces in the heart of downtown, adding a nightlife to an area that once was better known as a place to go for lunch, specialty shops or a festival.
All of those things still are part of the scene, but an emerging group of businesses are complementing that with locally owned bars and restaurants designed to make downtown Chandler more than a quaint place for locals.
