Groups push for analysis of private prisons in state

A number of faith and civil rights groups are calling on Gov. Doug Ducey to conduct an immediate independent study of private prisons and end the contracts if they are not found to be up to the same standards as similar state-run prisons.

America’s Friends Service Committee, a Quaker organization that actively campaigns for the closure of private prisons and to improve the conditions of incarcerated people, is leading the charge.
