Supervisors snuff out plans for 2-day event

The Board of Supervisors unanimously rejected a special events permit Wednesday for a medical marijuana festival in Casa Grande that the organizer spent about $30,000 and months of preparation to host.
The “Errl Camp” and overnight campsite was slated for Halloween weekend, Oct. 29 and Oct. 30, at the Domes in Casa Grande on South Thornton Road. The medicated Halloween camping event was meant to be a celebratory festival for those who use medical marijuana.
According to the special event permit application, the event would feature live music, a disc jockey, dancing, campfires, food vendors and more.
Though medicine would not be sold at the event, attendees could bring and have the right to smoke on the property via the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, approved by voters in 2010.
