State to use $750 million from a raised room tax to help fund $1.9 billion stadium

The Nevada legislature on Friday voted to provide public funding for a stadium that billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson wants to build for the National Football League’s Oakland Raiders.

The bill, passed in a special legislative session called by the governor, would provide $750 million of money from raising a room tax in Las Vegas. Combined with money from Mr. Adelson and the Raiders, it would fund a $1.9 billion stadium.
