Notre Dame Prep ineligible for playoffs after AIA upholds penalty

The Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep football program is ineligible for the postseason.

The Arizona Interscholastic Association executive board voted by a 5-3 margin to uphold the probation penalty for Notre Dame’s summer football class. Teams placed on probation are ineligible for the playoffs.

Board member Mark Goodman said he voted not to reduce the probation because of the “perceived advantage” Notre Dame’s summer class gave the team. Several other board members reiterated Goodman’s comments.
