Coming Soon: Apache Sky Casino. This is a brief update on the “San Carlos Apache Tribe[’s]… new casino [which is being built]… in the Dudleyville/Mammoth area.” But with “[l]ate summer monsoon storms [having] delayed some of the construction,“ how soon is “soon”? Find out, from CopperArea.comhttp://bit.ly/2ehSIoA

Pollack: Let’s talk oil and gas. But afterwards, let’s talk the apartment market in Greater Phoenix. U.S.: Unemployment Claims, Consumer Sentiment Index, Retail & Food Service Sales, Manufacturing &Trade Inventories/Sales Ratio. AZ: Unemployment Vs. National Trend, Apartment Vacancy Rates/Average Rents/Total Units on Market – Greater Phoenix. http://bit.ly/2dy5bVQ

The homeownership rate: Are demographics destiny? “[The] decline in the homeownership rate has triggered debate among housing experts. Of particular concern is the pronounced drop in the homeownership rate in demographic groups that historically have had lower-than-average homeownership rates.” Freddie Mac VP and Chief Economist Sean Becketti “[c]ontemplat[es] the future,” borrowing this line from Scrooge: ‘“Are these the shadows of the things that Will be, or are they the shadows of the things that May be only?” Find out if Becketti basically says “Bah humbug!” to the “Ghost of ‘Homeownership’ Past” —> http://bit.ly/2ervjRf

Tiny homes are cute, but zoning, regs will apply. “Yavapai County [officials] talk about what constitutes a tiny house and what, if any, regulations might apply.” But existing regs would appear to throw a monkey wrench into plans for fully-realized tiny-house lifestyles — at least in this county. One example? “Yavapai… does not allow for a tiny home on wheels to become a residence on private property.” And, based on thisThe Daily Courier report, county officials seem to be struggling a bit with how to proceed in changing that. http://bit.ly/2eeGsXY

Can leveling the real estate data standards field be a good thing? “The standards… are designed to allow MLSs, brokers and technology vendors to exchange real estate data in a common format without having to re-map the data to the specific format of every one of the nation’s 750 or so separate MLSs.” Inman looks at the “[t]he argument for standards” — how such standards will “alleviate broker pain and costs”; how they’ll “drive innovation” and “[e]levate the entire industry” while “[g]iving consumers what they want….”  Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman, Real Estate Standards Organization Chair, Art Carter, and CoreLogic’s Chris Bennett are among the “industry heavyweights” who share their views. http://bit.ly/2ej1pCQ

Because you are an informed person, as a supplement to the Dealmaker, we are providing you 3 (sometimes more/less) non-real estate related articles we thought you might enjoy!
Focus on issues, not accusations, Arizonans tell presidential candidates.“Arizonans want their next president to fix the economy and improve K-12 education. But the call by Donald Trump to build a wall apparently leaves them cold.” Capitol Media Services’ Howard Fischer looks at these and other conclusions drawn from a “survey of 700 adult heads of household conducted earlier this month by the Behavior Research Center”– in Arizona Capitol Times. http://bit.ly/2ehTZMd

Arizona flexes its muscles in presidential politics. The ever-prolific Howard Fischer (is he ever NOT writing?!) looks at a recent WalletHub election report on “voter power” and its connection to how the Clinton campaign is sending surrogates to, pumping money into, and “smell[ing] victory in [our] traditionally red state.” In Arizona Capitol Times. http://bit.ly/2eNQbVW

23 PERCENT LEFT BEHIND – High school graduation rates up; Arizona lags behind nation. “High school graduation rates reached an all-time high of 83 percent last year, but Arizona still lagged behind the nation at 77 percent in the 2014-2015 school year…” Arizona Department of Education spokesman Charles Tack weighs in on what can be done (and is being done) to bring our grade up from what is essentially a C+. In Cronkite News. http://bit.ly/2dy94tR

BENCH PRESSER’ – Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Paul McMurdie appointed to Arizona Court of Appeals. “Judge [Paul] McMurdie has served on the Maricopa County Superior Court since 2005. He has presided over criminal, civil, and family law cases, and is currently the presiding family court judge, according to a press release.” More about Judge McMurdie, plus Gov. Ducey’s remarks on his appointment, inMesa Independent. http://bit.ly/2ej37nJ

Newsmaker BONUS: Curt Schilling says he’ll run against Elizabeth Warren in 2018. “Former Major League pitcher Curt Schilling has vowed to try and unseat Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in 2018….  ‘So, I’ve made my decision. I’m going to run,’ the outspoken conservative said on WPRO radio Tuesday morning. ‘But — but — I haven’t talked to Shonda, my wife.’” Reuters.  (His very first political misstep: failing to make sure that his significant other was FIRST in the loop… never a good thing, as any guy can attest to. But good luck, Curt — not necessarily with your campaign — but with Shonda! ) http://bit.ly/2dy8OLD
