Uber wants flying cars in 10 years

Uber has shaken up the taxi industry, all without owning a single cab. The ride-sharing company is now looking at how it can shake-up the industry again and bring us into the world envisioned on The Jetsons by laying out a plan flying cars. Uber thinks we can have flying cars as soon as 2026./Uber

Uber’s Chief Product Officer Jeff Holden laid out the ambitious plan in a 98-page paper. Uber wants to create a fleet of “small, electric aircraft that take off and land vertically (called VTOL aircraft for Vertical Take-off and Landing)” to fly people to their destination.

The electric aircraft have many advantages. First, they would be much quieter than cars, and helicopters. Second, they would not need to follow a fixed route like cars and buses meaning they could get you to you destination faster and more efficiently. Third, because they are electric they would be better for the environment since they would have no emissions and would not require gas to run.
