Major General Plan amendment sought to make way for new Scottsdale golf course, development

Tucked away in the northernmost part of Scottsdale is a 92-acre plot of land the city is considering rezoning and developing through a proposed ordinance and resolutions.

The city council will discuss the future of this land during a General Plan Amendment meeting Thursday, Dec. 1. The lot in question sits between Pima and Cave Creek roads and borders the Town of Carefree to the south and west.

According to a city proposal, staff is proposing a major General Plan amendment to the 2001 General Plan to change land use on the site to about 55.5 acres of suburban neighborhoods and about 36.2 acres for developed open space or a golf course.
