The Arizona Court of Appeals has upheld a ruling in favor of Mayor Coral Evans in a libel lawsuit that was filed against her by a developer’s spokesperson. The victory, which turned on a procedural motion and not the substance of the complaint, cost the city $46,393 in legal fees to defend Evans.
Joe Villasenor, a spokesperson for Landmark Properties, filed the lawsuit against Evans in 2014. He accused her of forwarding an email from North Country HealthCare Hermosa Vida Community Organizer Michelle Thomas.
