It was not without consternation, particularly from Mayor Sharon Wolcott, but the Surprise City Council unanimously approved the final plat for Thompson Thrift at Surprise Center development Tuesday night.
The primary concerns were not with the two-acre portion to be developed by Thompson Thrift, rather with other parts of the entire eight-acre plat. The entire plat, the rest of which remains under control of the Surprise Center Development Corporation, was up for approval at the meeting.
Mayor Wolcott said Tuesday was the last chance for the council to weigh in on the makeup area south of Bell Road and west of Civic Center Drive — across the street from Dignity Health — before it is completely in the hands of developers.
