Craig McFarland was officially sworn in Monday night as Casa Grande’s next mayor.
After reciting the oath, he took a seat that had been occupied by Bob Jackson the last nine years. It’s a big seat to fill, considering that council members spent the earlier part of the evening each lavishing praise over Jackson.
City Councilman Ralph Varela even told an anecdote about how Jackson was the first person to teach him how to tie a tie.
McFarland is also fond of the outgoing mayor and hopes to continue the work done by the previous council. His first objective was learning to master the procedural steps and actions of running a council meeting.
