Gilbert officials say the Loop 202 interchange at Lindsey Road is needed to meet the impact of Rivulon, a massive commercial development between Gilbert Road and Lindsey.
Gilbert officials and regional freeway planners are discussing the addition of an interchange on the Loop 202 freeway at Lindsay Road, but many nearby residents oppose the idea while business leaders applaud it.
Town officials say the interchange is needed in the next few years as a major commercial development comes to the north side of Loop 202, between Gilbert and Lindsay roads.
The interchange is among 14 freeway-improvement projects that could be funded with about $900 million from Proposition 400, a county voter-approved half-cent sales tax for transportation projects, said Eric Anderson, transportation director for the Maricopa Association of Governments.
