Lucid announces another partnership, city moves ahead planning for project. “LG Chem, a chemical company based in South Korea, has agreed to produce [lithium-ion battery cells] that feature a unique, trademarked chemistry developed in partnership with [Lucid].” Pinal Central’s Kevin Reagan also looks at the CG City Council’s “first actions related to the Lucid project,” which include an “agree[ment] to partner with Pinal County to conduct a $534,000 design study for improvements to Thornton Road,” and “a public hearing on… the city’s intention to annex 80 acres that will be incorporated into the Lucid project.” Details here: http://bit.ly/2hdNuwK
Glendale lands high-tech U-Haul manufacturing facility. “The [115,000-square-foot] facility is an expansion of an existing 50,000-square-foot plant…. where it makes those ubiquitous dollies that go in the back of every U-Haul truck, as well as the ramps for those same trucks.” Not a location for renting U-Hauls, but definitely a place where — according to Phoenix Business Journal’s Eric Jay Toll — one can see “[s]heets of steel… cut on the massive Whitney cutter or a… Salvagnini laser cutter built in Italy.” Rippin’!
