The Arizona Legislature could ignore U.S. Supreme Court decisions it doesn’t like under a bill approved by the Arizona House of Representative today.
And some Democrats, who had previously argued the bill was clearly unconstitutional, were OK with that idea now that they’re living under President Trump.
Republican Rep. Bob Thorpe of Flagstaff sponsored HB2097, which would prohibit state and political subdivisions from using personnel or financial resources to aid the federal government in any action that constitutes an act of “commandeering.”
The bill would allow Arizona lawmakers to ignore a U.S. Supreme Court decision, among other federal actions, that the Legislature thinks is unconstitutional.
