‘To see a 30 percent increase in home values while subsequently seeing a 30 percent decrease in crime is just incredible results,’ Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey says.
Grand Canyon University unveiled several new facilities at its Phoenix campus on Wednesday, as state and local officials commended the school for helping to revitalize the surrounding area in recent years.
Among those on hand at Wednesday’s event was Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, who said GCU has become an economic engine that is boosting the area around its campus, located at 27th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix.
“To see a 30 percent increase in home values while subsequently seeing a 30 percent decrease in crime is just incredible results,” Ducey said, in reference to the area.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton agreed, saying the school has transformed what he termed the “Canyon Corridor” into a thriving city neighborhood.
