The city Planning and Development Department is recommending approval of a request made by developers wishing to build a new destination resort in Casa Grande.

Developers of Dreamport Villages are asking to make an amendment to the property’s original planned area development to permit new land uses. The Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission will review the request at its meeting Thursday and may vote to advance it to the City Council.

According to staff reports prepared ahead of Thursday’s meeting, the city’s planning department is recommending the commission approve the amendment with some conditions.

One condition is for at least 1 acre of land be dedicated to the city prior to the approval of any major site plans. The land would maintain access to the Arica Road trailhead along Casa Grande Mountain.
