Intel to invest billions in self-driving car biz

Chandler-based Intel is betting big on the self-driving vehicle market.  The tech giant announced Monday it’s spending $15,000,000,000 to acquire Mobileye, a company that specializes in creating chips and software for autonomous vehicles.

Intel Chief Executive Brian Krzanich says bringing Mobileye and Intel together will allow both to accelerate the future of self-driving with improved performance in a cloud-to-car solution. Intel says that will lead to lower costs for car makers.
