Private motocross track gets go-ahead despite county controversy

After more than an hour of debate and the threat of litigation from two parties, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a special use permit to operate a private motocross track.

The board’s decision came despite the Planning and Zoning Commission’s unanimous recommendation to deny the project.

With the board’s approval, the track — River Bottom Motocross — may be constructed on a 12-acre parcel of land located approximately one mile east of State Route 79 in an unincorporated area of Pinal County near Florence, along the San Carlos Irrigation District Canal Road, between the Gila River and the San Carlos Irrigation District irrigation channel.
