City leaders hope to attract filmmakers to Eloy

Site selectors for filming movies and TV shows could decide on a wonderful Eloy backdrop for their next scene with a proposed ordinance by the city’s economic development specialist, Jim Dinkle.

The idea is to stimulate production companies to film in Eloy, use local catering and lodging and gain what’s called earned media, or free publicity.

“We’re a little ahead of the game but we want to be able to put our name out there,” Dinkle said during a presentation Monday to the City Council. “I think it’s a slam dunk for a community like Eloy to stick its toe in the water.”
