Construction jobs show an overall net gain of 5,700 for the year

Arizona’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady in April at 5.0, according to a recent report published by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.

The national rate improved to 4.4 percent, down from 4.5 in March.

The state had a net gain of 10,100 non-farm jobs over the month. Most gains were in Government, which added 2,600. Overall, the private sector gained 7,500. Nine of the 11 sectors tracked saw gains. Natural Resources and Mining lost 100, and Professional and Business Services fell 700.

Construction gained 2,300, and the sector has an overall net gain of 5,700 for the year. Total statewide Construction jobs for the year-to-date stand at 139,000.
