Former mayor Valenzuela sentenced to 1-year probation

The former Superior mayor who pleaded guilty to attempted theft in March has been sentenced to one year of supervised probation.

Jayme Valenzuela was indicted last summer after an audit revealed he had used a town of Superior debit card to withdraw up to $2,300.

According to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Maricopa County Judge Warren Granville placed Valenzuela on probation Wednesday and designated his offense a misdemeanor.
