Arizona went through the ringer during the Great Recession, but seems to have transformed itself.

To get a gauge on how much the state has changed, we reached out to economist Jim Rounds, president of the Rounds Consulting Group in Tempe, to see how far we have come from and where we are going. Here’s what he had to say.

In hindsight, what were Phoenix and Arizona’s biggest mistakes heading into the Great Recession? For the broader economy, we were using economic strategies from the 1970s.
