Queen Creek annexation puts dent in San Tan’s incorporation hopes

Town of Queen Creek approves annexation of Banner Ironwood & the Amerco J-Curve properties

upporters of an incorporation effort in San Tan Valley may find themselves with fewer reasons to justify such a move. Last week the Queen Creek City Council approved the annexation of two properties in San Tan Valley: the Banner Hospital at Ironwood and a portion of the “J-curve” on Hunt Highway at Empire Road. The decision sparked public outrage among San Tan Valley citizens and public representatives.

“People aren’t happy,” said Bryan McCoy, chairman of the San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce. “They feel like Queen Creek is poaching on commercial [property] that we have, but there’s not a lot we can do about it at this point.”
