Why big box isn’t dead in Phoenix (or anywhere else)

Big box stores and the retailers that inhabited them aren’t like they used to be.

There haven’t been this many apparel retail bankruptcies since the Great Recession, and with all these retailers either facing bankruptcy or downsizing, there is more than 9.3 million square feet of anchor space facing potential bankruptcy, according to a CBRE (NYSE: CBG) report.

But that doesn’t mean the big box is completely dead.
