Casa Grande council overrules planners on Villago

In a rare move, the city council voted to overrule a recommendation of the planning commission.

Council voted to make a few slight changes to Villago’s Planned Area Development agreement than what the planning and zoning commissioners approved earlier this month.

Communities Southwest is requesting changes to the development in hopes of enticing future home builders. One sticking point for the council was the area between the homes, known as the side yard setback. Council members said they were concerned that allowing a smaller side yard — in this case it would have been five feet on both sides — would make the development feel cluttered.
