Lobbyist: Goldwater Institute wants to ‘second guess’ Legislature with regulatory law

he Goldwater Institute successfully ushered the Right to Earn a Living Act through the Arizona Legislature this year, but not as the libertarian think tank initially intended. SB1437 puts limits on what Goldwater officials describe as burdensome and unnecessary occupational regulations by limiting them to only those needed for one of three narrow purposes – public health, safety or welfare. And it gives individuals a legal avenue to challenge certain regulations they feel don’t fit that purpose and obstruct access to a particular field of work.

Arizona was the first state to approve such a bill, both Goldwater and Gov. Doug Ducey touted in April.
