Pinal courthouse expansion completed to deal with county’s growth

FLORENCE — A $15 million expansion of the Pinal County Courthouse is finished with a major goal of freeing up space to allow cases to be resolved faster.

Public officials cut a red ribbon before the courthouse Wednesday, signaling the end of a renovation project that began shortly after Superior Court Judge Stephen McCarville was appointed to preside over the court three years ago.

He said population projections made at that time indicated the county’s current courthouse, built back in the early 2000s, was not big enough to fill future judicial needs.
