A gated, active adult community within the Asante development in Northwest Surprise is on its way to the City Council for a final discussion.
The Surprise Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended two major amendments to Asante-related PADs and overlay zoning to allow for the community on Aug. 17. The council is likely to hear these items in September.
This senior community would carve 220.1 acres out of the Asante PAD and 149.1 from the Asante North PAD. If approved, it would have a total of 1,566 units on 369.2 acres, about 10 percent of the total planned area of Asante.
