Prescott Unified School District Superintendent Joe Howard is known as an upbeat optimist.
Yet on Monday he admitted he was a bit down in the dumps. He had just learned the September closing on a sale of the district’s downtown office building on South Granite Street is off — at least for now.
The prospective buyer — SteepleRock Ventures LLC in Paradise Valley — pulled its escrow after determining the renovation costs were going to exceed expectations amid other complications. This is the second time a prospective sale for the district office has not come to fruition.
