A vision to transform Scottsdale’s beloved McDowell Sonoran Preserve into a grand attraction and learning experience may finally get realized.
But the vision that is the Desert Discovery Center is as contested as it is long-running.
A modified version of the plan — renamed Desert EDGE — was unveiled this summer and goes before the Scottsdale City Council Tuesday for review and next steps.
Those steps should lead ultimately to a public vote.
Two opposition groups are suing to force such a vote. But the city should act on its own to make it happen.
