Peoria City Council approves annexation at TBird/71st Ave.

City council approved an annexation ordinance Tuesday that brings 11-plus more acres into the city limits. But, the property has been surrounded by the city since settlers came to the area in the early 1900s.

The property, on the northwest corner of 71st Avenue and Thunderbird Road, is part of a living trust and the annexation was initiated by the city on behalf of the property owners. It is contiguous to the city’s jurisdictional boundaries and lies within the city’s planning area. City planning staff said it is in conformance with the adopted annexation policy.
