Some big development projects proposed for Pinal County made big news during 2017, although time schedules and even their likelihood of happening have remained unclear.
The projects were chosen as the No. 1 story of the year by the editors of PinalCentral.
The huge sourcing center PhoenixMart has a large building shell after numerous delays, and further work was slow much of the time. Dreamport Villages, an amusement park, resort and housing project near the Interstate 10-I-8 junction, worked its way through the approval process at Casa Grande City Hall. Plans for Attesa, a major motor sports project on the southwestern corner of Casa Grande, also moved forward. Meanwhile, a possibly competitive motor sports center in Maricopa, APEX, also made planning progress, overcoming a legal challenge that would have delayed it until a public vote next year.
