The Avondale City Council Tuesday night unanimously approved a rezoning and pre-Plat to allow for a 60- acre subdivision west of the northwest corner of Avondale and Encanto boulevards for development.
The property is owned by Avondale Recovery Acquisition, LLC and Treguboff Properties. The project is called Encanto crossing and will provide 217 single-family residential lots, with a density of 3.75 units per acre. The lot sizes are 6,000 and 7,000 ft.² with 12 -foot depth and 5-foot side yard setbacks.
Councilwoman Pat Dennis, indicated she appreciated the developer implementing her suggestions to incorporate shaded playground structures and to allow for pedestrian access across the site so school children who live to the north of Encanto Crossing will be able to walk to the elementary school.
Councilman Lorenzo Sierra also indicated support of the project and asked how quickly it might be built. Councilman Mike Pineda indicated that while he is hesitant to support reduced side setbacks, he was supportive in this case because of the open space amenities, and larger lot sizes.
City planning staff member Rick Williams gave a thorough and efficient presentation. Jordan Rose and Chris Webb from Rose Law Group handled the case and afterwords said they were appreciative for the partnership with the city in the planning efforts.
“This was another great experience for our clients in working with the City of Avondale, which truly knows how to get business done,” Rose said.
