The long-gestating youth sports complex project in east Mesa has the potential to be an economic boon for the city, though whether the facility’s impact will justify its estimated $60 million price tag is still up for debate.
Plans for the sports complex project – which is being spearheaded by the Visit Mesa tourism organization – include 24 multipurpose outdoor sports fields and a 110,000-square-foot indoor field house that could be used for sports like basketball and volleyball as well as trade shows and other large gatherings.
