The Navajo Nation and Salt River Project utility have inked a deal to bring more renewable and solar energy production to the Native American tribe’s sprawling land in northeast Arizona.

The deal first includes expansion of an existing solar plant on Navajo land but also opens the door to future renewable projects.
NTUA Generation Inc. — an arm of the Navajo Tribal Utiliy Authority — will expand the Kayenta Solar plant as part of the deal with SRP.
