Judge gives Tempe ‘squatter’ 30 days to vacate land he claims is his

He has battled the state and the city for more than a decade, claiming he has a right to land that has been part of his family for more than a century. On Monday, a court order ruled he has 30 days to vacate.

The ruling filed in Maricopa County Superior Court said that Tempe has the power to evict Steve Sussex from the land, which is steps away from its man-made lake and near its popular downtown.

The county has valued the land at nearly $800,000.
