5 are vying for state treasurer

So far, five opponents have begun campaigning and two others have identified themselves as possible candidates for the position. The office is first in line of succession for governor if the sitting governor leaves office.
Reagan, the incumbent, was elected to her first term as Secretary of State in 2014. Prior to running for Secretary of State, Reagan served in both the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona Senate. Prior to her elected service, Reagan owned a business.
Mark Robert Gordon, one of two Democrats who have announced for the seat, is an election and voting rights lawyer and political adviser. Gordon served as a delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention from Arizona.
Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, is a member of the Arizona State Senate. She served one term in the Arizona House of Representatives before running for Senate. Hobbs has a background as a social worker and is the executive director for Emerge Arizona, a political training program for Democratic women.
