Avondale City Council began reviewing a proposed budget of $241.9 million for the fiscal year 2019.
The proposed budget is $24.5 million more than last year, or about an 11 percent increase, with a focus on employees, capital projects and parks. The increased spending is due to an increase in revenue by the city.
“The revenues are up,” said Cynthia Seelhammer, Avondale’s interim city manager. “We’re assuming that our futures in the next month will look largely like the past year, which have been a good time for the economy and a good time for the revenues of the city.”
