A congressman representing most of Pinal County and a vast section of rural Arizona voted against a farm bill that would have strengthened the area he represents, one of his challengers says.
Tiffany Shedd, a Republican candidate for the Congressional District 1 seat, said Rep. Tom O’Halleran’s vote on the farm bill made one thing clear: “This stabs in the heart of the people he represents.”
O’Halleran, D-Sedona, voted against the farm bill, the successor of legislation originally passed in 1933 and that is required to be renewed every five years. Shedd said the bill is critical to rural Arizonans who rely on agriculture and forestry for their livelihoods.
