Downtown Phoenix Sheraton hotel sale to close in June; new operator unknown

Phoenix is close to finalizing the long-awaited sale of the 1,000-room Sheraton Grand Phoenix downtown hotel, but it is unclear who will operate it after the sale.

According to a letter to employees from general manager Mike Ehmann, the city has notified Marriott that it plans to terminate its management agreement with Marriott in connection with the sale of the hotel. Sheraton became part of Marriott International in

 the 2016 mega merger of Marriott and Sheraton parent Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
